It’s been almost a year of ownership, 6 trips, and over 3,000 miles with our Argosy 28!  It has been a real joy to have the beast.  Along the way we have struggled with 2 flat tires, some leaky plumping, trying to figure out dumping, put in new carpet, leaky windows, and more.  Despite what may seem like setbacks we have both decided that we truly enjoy the RV lifestyle.  What may be the most difficult part of ownership is the time we are not in the Argosy.  I find myself imagining traveling the country from campsite to campsite enjoying the feeling of being free.  But because we are basically working stiffs, we have to plan our trips very carefully.

I plan on spending some more time updating this blog and posting about things that relate to my RV experience.  Check out this little story that inspired me recently in the New York Times.  Enjoy!

Ten more days until the Argosy comes home to Atlanta. In the meantime, there has been quite a few details that need to be worked out to finalize the transaction and prepare for ownership. Getting RV insurance on the beast has been surprisingly difficult. Not that getting the insurance is hard, but getting return calls from agents has been hard. We plan on having the insurance in place in the next few days and will be glad when that is done.

Sunday was devoted to just shopping around Target and Ikea making lists of some of the thing we will need to furnish the new home. We found some great dishes at Target designed by Orla Kiely. The selection of plastic dishes can be quite dismal, so we went ahead and bought a set that we love.

I hope the Argosy comes with manuals. The availability of information found online about the Argosy years is pretty anemic. Much of the information devotes energy to bemoaning the ownership of Airstream Inc. at the time by Beatrice foods. Then if you find any information it talks about the trailers and not the Motorhomes. I was also quite surprised to find out that many Airstream owners do not feel that Argosy models should be allowed membership to clubs or attend rallies! What a warm welcome. It was definitely a niche product and few were made.
